New Stallions  to follow

Singspiel

This Sadlers Wells stallion produced the goods this weekend and it wasn’t only the rain affected tracks that helped. Country Girl won in the slow at Randwick and Belmonte won at Doomben on a good track.

Lion Cavern

This Storm Cat stallion is really starting to fire up they can win from 1000m to 2000m but keep an eye for them around 1400m to 1600m and especially with a distance switch back to this distance.

FILANTE

This stallion is a consistent producer of honest horses and he his getting a lot just at the moment. Watch out for them over 1200m to 1600m. Zimstar won this weekend at good odds. The winners keep coming for this honest producer.

Tommifrancs is of great interest he is by Real Quiet out of Centaine mare yet he won the Bagot hcp over 2500m at Flemington. His staying proess must come from his stallion yet most of the breed sprint. I am unsure of Schwarzkoff full breeding.

HEADLINE NEWS

This week belonged to Encosta De Lago, Singspiel and Archway with numerous winners from these three stallions. Pride of Archway and Call Me Archie were two Melbourne metropoliton winners from the later. It’s a shame Archway is no longer with us. Belmonte won the Doomben classic and Country Girl at Randwick. Singspiel breed are really flying at the moment with rain affected tracks.

At the Gold Coast on Saturday it was a win in the group 2 Hollindale Cup to Above Deck who is putting the Danzig stallion Bianconi on the way two glory in the breeding scene. Bianconi also got a good winner in Sydney with Taken At the Flood both wins were around the 2000m distance which is a bit of a lead on this breed. I have noticed they have a liking for this trip. The good Redoutes Choice filly Fashions Afield took out the listed Gold Coast Guineas. Princess Margaret made it 9 wins from 12 starts and did a great job in fighting off all challenges in the Silk Stocking. This mare is another talented galloper coming from Spectrum who does get some good gallopers.

There were two winners worth mentioning from the Flemington heavy track meeting. Desert King sired Desert Master who made it 7 from 11 out of a Toy Pindarri mare he was born to swim. Universal Heights won the last and being by Spinning World handled the wet track well but he is a promising galloper so watch in the next couple of months. In the one listed race at Rosehill it was Filante who is really firing at the moment his son Gorgonite  is sure to greet the judge again. The last was won by Columate a Snippets colt out of  a Danehill mare a real good nick.

ANZAC DAY RACING

BRISBANE  Eagle Farm      The Zabeel gelding Game On won again and it just shows never give up on a Zabeel they always get better with age especially the mares. Sequalo had another great day with a quinella in the 1000m Anzac Hcp with Zoe's Lad beating Brebeaudan Lad and Tropiqualo winning the 1200m class 6. Take note the males of this breed are dominant. Another excellent win by a Flying Spur filly  Moonlight Shadow had a good run but fought on well to win first up over 1200m. The fillies of this breed excel. Interesting distance switch used by northern rivers trainer J.Gallagher on then Marwhina mare Meanma 1200m back to 800m then back today at 1200m to run third at 50-1.

SYDNEY   Randwick  It’s a Beadman dominated day again with 2 winners and 2 close seconds. His second winner coming through Reverenza a very promising Commands filly from the Hawkes stable over the 1300m. The win by Chatoyant the 3yo Flying Spur filly in the 1100m fillies and mares just another plus for the female side of this breed. The win of Swansea in the class 3 2400m race is one more pointer to the Sadlers Wells stallion Singspiel being very competitive in the coming years. It was a good strong fighting win. The last race of the day was won by Three Tenors first up over 1400m. I have seen this Vettori breed win first up before and I think the bigger tracks do help them.

MELBOURNE  Flemington There is another Redoutes Choice on the way up with Megadeal making it two from two over the 1200m. I know this sounds like a broken record but the 1400m mares race was won by a Flying Spur. Freedmans We Can't Say That won the 2500m race. Watch the Generous breed beyond 2000m against moderate opposition. The St Leger for three year olds was won by Dolphin Jo by Dolphin Street. I'm not a big fan of this breed but I think they are capable when the distances get longer and the track rain affected because the breed won the Oakbank Great Eastern on a bog track. The most promising win of the day come with Ambouli this Last Tycoon filly won over a 1000m. I just want to mention the third horse Kings Farewell he run on very strongly and I like the Lion Cavern breed over 1400m to 1600m so be on the look out for this guy. The final race of the day was won by Red For Lou a filly by that courageous little horse Testa Rossa. This breed is beginning to perform over the 1600 to 2000m so keep an eye out and always watch the well bred three year olds in the open races this time of year as they are more mature.

ADELAIDE  Victoria Park The second race was won by the Encosta De Lago mare Susie Mine over the 2000m. The Catbird two year old colt Harb won the main race of the day the listed Oaklands Plate. Giggling Girl got up at good odds in race 5 a slight distance switch for this filly by Happy Giggle from 1350m back to 1250m.

Another win for El San Juanico and this breed Akhadaan. They are really flying in Adelaide at the moment. They are very honest and I've noticed a definite pattern that at times they struggle to break through but once they are successful be aware more should follow. Another win for a Jeune in the last first up over 1000m by Gundooee Miss.

SYDNEY CARNIVAL

The Golden Slipper was run and won by a top filly in Miss Finland who is by Redoubtes Choice. She got a great run during the race and found a passage on the rails but the way she won was super . The best run in the race for a three year old perspective I feel was Churchill Downs who came hard down the outside from well back in the field. Watch him in the spring. Eremein won the BMW in great style and is certainly our top stayer at the moment with Makybe Diva no longer on the scene.

Serenade Rose won the Oaks in a breeze for Lee Freedman. The Doncaster was taken out by the brilliant Encosta De Lago horse Racing to Win out of a Danehill mare this guy may just be a notch above the other milers on the scene.

RECENT GROUP RESULTS

Takeover Target scored another win on Saturday sitting at the heals of Impaler until the turn and then once given his head won easily. It always looked like his race as 1350 was just beyond Impaler.

Murray Downs the Encosta De Lago horse made it three in a row at Flemington on Monday.

The biggest news and best performance has to go to the Danehill mare Aqua D'more who blitzed his rivals to complete the Villiers Summer Cup double. She has an incredible turn of foot and left her rivals standing when asked to make her move in the straight.

At Warwick Farm on Saturday saw two promising three year olds successful Cresta Run by Commands and by far the most Promising the Anabaa filly Anamour out of a Kenmare mare.

Sequalo is the sprint stallion of the moment and he scored with Buddy Sequalo at the Gold Coast and Sequestrate at Eagle Farm. You can add Lula on Tuesday at sandown as well. The Sequalo's need to be watched from 1000m to1200m and they are not just winners in QLD they are appearing down south too. Get on them.

Royal Ida is worth mentioning the Star Pyramul 5 year old has a great record at Morphetville and completed the Durbridge Stakes Christmas stakes double . He now has eight wins from twelve starts.

Victorian Non Tab results The Sadlers Wells stallion Runyon won a couple of maidens 1750 1500m While the Danehill stallion Commands scored with two 1200m maiden winners. The late Rubiton also got a double class2 over 1400m and a maiden over 1550m. Danzero 1150m class5 and a 1400 maiden.

Deep Impact

Japan;s new pin up horse, Deep Impact, will be trying to bring a small Christmas present for his fans when he takes on the older horses in the Arima Kinen.

The undefeated three year old will have to take on the big boys tomorrow, such as Zenno Rob Roy, who was not so lucky in the Japan Cup this year. Then there's Cosmo Bulk, the hero of Hokkaido and Lincoln and a whole heap of other good horses.

But Deep Impact is something special. When we spoke to his jockey Yutaka Take recently he sighed and said "Ah, Deep Impact - such a wonderdul horse". Take considers him the best horse in racing anywhere. His only close finish was in the Kikka Sho (Japanese St Leger) where he thought he was going to the winning post on the first circuit of the track and nearly pulled Take's arms off. It then took him a little while to settle and when he did he was able to produce his trademark lightning finish and win by 2 lengths from nowhere.

It's hard to imagine how many people will be at Nakayama tomorrow to see the Triple Crown winner (one of only 5 in Japan to do this feat) at his last race as a three year old.

Deep Impact went down narrowly in Japan
