Anabaa
filly turns heads with brilliant win
Brisbane,
April 26 - Exciting Anabaa filly Virage De Fortune amply demonstrated
her talent at Eagle Farm with a storming six length win from the widest
barrier.
The Bruce McLachlan-trained filly is nominated for the Group One QTC Sires’
Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 4 and The Group One T.J. Smith
(1600m) on June 13 at the same track.
Her tilt at the Magic Millions was scrapped after a barrier incident in a
lead-up race in early January resulted in her flipping over in the stalls
seconds before the start.
Virage De Fortune was a $70,000 purchase at Magic Millions 2004 for
Tim Hughes and James Bester on behalf of a syndicate including Sportingbet's
Michael Sullivan and Bester himself.
The Anzac Day win was her second consecutive victory. Virage de Fortune
beat Nova Star (Iglesia) with Taabinga Lass (Darbonne) a further long head
away third.
On January 15, Virage De Fortune won over 1110 metres at Doomben. A
similar story unfolded on that occasion as she again drew wide, hit the
ground running from barrier eight in a field of nine and raced on the pace,
sustaining her speed to win.
Virage De Fortune is a half-sister to stkes placed Glasnost (Red
Ransom) out of the city-placed Virage (Kenmare), herself a daughter of
champion mare Emancipation.
