This is another strong key to getting winners looking for the young horses who are heading for super stardom or just going to be reliable regular winners on the racetrack. Finding their likes and dislikes. One piece of important advice here be wary of  2yos who have had hard champaignes maybe winning 5 or 6 from seven starts and returning as three year olds often they are not the same horse last year it was Dance Hero. Every year it’s the same top 2yos don’t perform at three.

The two year olds to keep an eye on are like Fastnet Rock who have a solid 2yo preparation but not seven or eight starts. Its easier waiting to watch the first prep at three but the opportunity of picking an up and comer at two, results in some good value. Zabeels are an interesting breed to watch they always take around seven or eight starts before they hit their straps. Yet his son Octaganol can produce first starters and do handle shorter distances. This is coming from his mares line the famous Eight Carat. When you see a form line like between 8and 10 starts with three or four wins its usually a good guide. And once a three year old starts stringing wins together get on him he could be the next super horse and this is where the safety is in punting. If you get on these champs your on a winner.

I mentioned this in win percentage track specialists. There are certain breeds who prefer certain tracks. The Danehills do prefer the bigger tracks as do many of his sons but I have noticed the Danzero have definite liking for Moonee Valley they tend to sit on or just off the pace and then take off just before the turn putting the pressure on a long way out and then hang on usually around 1400 to 1600m.
