CAMBRIDGE STUD

New Zealand

A decade after he first stood at Cambridge Stud, the progeny of Sir Tristram’s daughters began to display the same winning ability so evident in his own progeny.

From the 1986/87 Australasian racing season until the current season the earnings of his daughters’ progeny have consistently exceeded $1 million. Over the last nine racing seasons in Australia, Sir Tristram has only once been out of the top five broodmare sires at season end.

Sir Tristram has four times been Champion Australian Broodmare Sire (in 1992-93, 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98)

Sir Tristram was the champion broodmare sire in New Zealand in the 2000-2001 season and finished second on the Australian Broodmare Sire Premiership in the same season.

To found a true dynasty a sire is required to show the ability to pass on superior production capability to both his sons and daughters. The figures below show Sir Tristram had this ability in abundance.

LAKE CONISTON
TO STAND IN THE WESTERN CAPE
 FROM 2004 ONWARDS

European Champion Sprinter LAKE CONISTON (Bluebird - Persian Polly) is about to enter quarantine for his journey to South Africa. He will stand at Lionel Cohen's Odessa Stud near Ceres in the Western Cape in a deal negotiated by joint owners of the Stallion Allan Bloodlines as part of their further investment in South Africa.

"We are delighted to become involved with Lionel Cohen who is one pf the most progressive and successful breeders in a country that has shown it can produce to compete with the best in the world," commented David Allan. "A proven horse like ours has many years ahead of him in which to develop an excellent second career".

LAKE CONISTON has sired Gr.1 winners CONTINENT (Cartier European Sprinter of the Year - July Cup Gr.1, Prix de l'Abbaye Gr.1) and KAPISTON (Ellerslie Sires Produce Stakes, Gr.1 for 2 year olds) amongst a healthy list of stakes winners and the winners of 235 races in both hemispheres in the last two years alone.

LAKE CONISTON shares with GREEN DESERT the distinction of having won the July Cup and sired the winner of that race - CONTINENT (2002) and OASIS DREAM (2003) respectively.
